You see a dog in a carrier bag and immediately think that it is a friendly pet that wants to be petted. This is not always the case. A carrier bag is a handy and convenient way to transport your dog to and from the vet and after a visit to the vet lots of dogs prefer to be left alone especially if it was one of those vet visits that caused anxiety. It is just common courtesy to ask the owner before petting their pet. In fact, one time on a trip with my dad, I went to pet a dog in a store and nearly got bit. This particular dog was friendly and very docile, but he had one hang-up and that was, he DID NOT like to be scratched behind the ears.
Dog carrier bags offer security and safety for the pet and that is the way it should be. A health benefit of using a dog carrier bag or a doggie purse is that you can carry them easily for long periods of time and keep the pad of their feet off of hot asphalt or cement. Humans have longer legs and take one step to ten of their pet; have you ever thought of how tired they become just trying to keep up with your pace. Be thoughtful and place him in a backpack, the Sherpa AKC Duffle Dog Carrier, a dog carrier bag or a purse to give him much needed rest.
I can’t say enough good about the backpack pet carrier not only for hiking in the woods, but for taking trips downtown. It keeps them up off the ground in the woods where there are many spiky objects to puncture the puppy’s paws. Give your dog a lift by carrying him for awhile also helps to relieve him from sun stroke. I have seen dogs tied up outside a store and it breaks my heart; if they had just spent a few dollars and purchased a backpack the pet would be allowed inside the store. I realize that backpacks are not designed for the thirty plus dogs, but they are wonderful for the smaller lighter weighted pet.
I can’t stress enough to be a responsible owner and take good care of your pet. Part of taking care of your pet includes taking responsibility for his toilet needs as well. Allowing your furry friend sufficient time for his bathroom detail before an outing is mandatory and then he can be trained to relieve himself before the outing. A dog on the leash should not be allowed to use the bathroom; but if he does, then it is up to you the owner to see that it is picked up and properly disposed of.
Loving our pets and having them with us as much as possible will bring the most happiness and joy. Being responsible and taking care of your pet and his surroundings should be your number one goal. Backpacks, doggie carriers, duffle dog carriers, or a dog purse are wonderful ways to accomplish these goals.
No matter if you have an older dog or a pup,
Dog crate training is an often times disregarded method of canine training which is unfortunate because a puppy that’s properly crate trained is noticeably happier and more secure. In fact, dogs consider their crates to be their own special home where they are able to really feel safe.
